Seas and winds up, flying our Genoa. Cora and I not feeling the best, but lying down helps, and we know we’ll feel better tomorrow as seas mellow. Calder has his fishing lines in the water. We are heading almost directly north, a bit to the east of Vanuatu in preparation for a change of winds at the end of the passage that we’re hoping to ride on in.

We take naps, do the NYT daily Worldle and Connections, visit, take more naps, eat what sounds good. Getting into our rhythm of watches. It does usually take about 2-3 days to get our sealegs. Sleep and hydration help, but it is very common to feel tired and “off” the first few days.

Overnight, a bit rolly with beam seas and swell, a few isolated squalls avoided. Wind continues to diminish this morning. Code Zero up, but I think much of our speed is getting pushed along by the swells. We haven’t motored yet, but I think that may be in our future. We’d like to save our fuel for if/when it’s really needed, such as trying to outrun a system or get to a destination before a system comes in. There’s a morning rainbow. An albatross flies by. This morning there is a squid that has washed up onto our boat, now trailing behind our boat on a fishing line. It’s a gift to be out here on this ocean, watching the ever-changing ocean waves and sky.

Food today: Breakfast of blueberry muffins and breakfast egg cups (prepped these and froze them). Snack lunch. Dinner of ham and corn chowder with bread (also made the chowder and froze it prior to departure).
